updates.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Between the aftermath of my show, holidays, reorganizing my studio, etc I've neglected this blog a little.

More updates coming soon (and hopefully a new website in the coming weeks)

Also, for those of you who were unable to attend my solo Exhibition, Desoto Row posted a few pictures on their site.

"Small Works 2009" is up through Christmas, so if you're around, check it out!

"Small Works"

30 pieces from my "Far From Home" suite were recently selected to be sown as part of this year's "Small Works" exhibition at the Gutstein Gallery (formerly known as the Red Gallery).

The suite is a large, on going project consisting of 3x3" panels that will also be featured at my upcoming solo exhibition. More details on both exhibitions as they draw near...

...not sure where i found this, or who did it, but it cracks me up.

Crunch Time

My first solo show is exactly one month away.
Time to really get down to business. I've got a long weekend of drawing, painting and printing ahead of me. Working 40+ hours a week means I really have to maximize nights and weekends for productivity.

I'll post images of my new work & progress soon, as well as photos from our trip to NYC.

Steady hustle

Another good weekend in the studio. Just about wrapped a few paintings, and starting some smaller works on paper & more tiny panels.

Cheers!

6x6 Gallery

Kay and I are both participating in the first exhibition to be held at 6x6 Gallery NY. A sister gallery of Charming Wall Inc , 6x6 will host a group show with hundreds of artists, all doing work on a 6" square canvas.
I have to give them props for being incredibly well organized... above is the submission packaging and materials they sent in one neat little box. I have yet to work with a gallery as streamlined as these folks.

The show opens this fall, and I've got about a month to turn the canvas around and ship it back to NY. I'll keep posting as i make progress and the show draws near... as of this moment the canvas is blank.

Should be exciting!

after the deluge

So, what do you do when crazy Summer thunderstorms flash flood your neighborhood, and knock out the power in your apartment & studio?

My better half and I constructed a paper boat armada and sent them out after the rain let up...

This is a group exhibition I am lucky enough to be a part of. I just wish I was able to make it to Texas for the reception. If the gallery shares any of the exhibition photos, I'll post them.

A special kind of awesome

This is largely unrelated to artwork, or my studio practice, but i just read about this guy and thought his endeavors were incredible...

This guy bicycled across the Strait of Florida & English Channel in the eighties. He also trained off Key Biscayne, FL - about 2 hours from where i grew up.

Why didnt I think of this rig?
